Healthy Energy Balls Recipe with Manuka Honey & Kakadu Plum Powder
Are you struggling to find easy, healthy and tasty snacks? Before you go into auto-pilot and fill your shopping trolley with those questionable snacks (you know the ones!), give this recipe a go! You can get the kids to help out or whip them up during your lunch break. They are perfect deterrent and great to have just before sport training.

Dates are a good source of fibre and are rich in iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. Some sources suggest, that dates were likely cultivated about 8,000 years ago in what is present-day Iraq.
Ingredients
Option 1
- 1 cup of pitted Dates
- ½ cup of raw almonds or hazelnuts (you can exclude if needed due to school or workplace requirements)
- 2 tsp chia seeds
- 2 tbsp pepitas seeds
- 2 tsp kakadu plum powder
Coating
- desiccated coconut OR
- chocolate powder (for slightly cheekier option)
Option 2
- 1 cup of pitted Dates
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 tsp kakadu plum powder
- 2 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp of our manuka honey
- ½ cup of water
- pinch of salt
Coating
- desiccated coconut
- chocolate powder or vegan chocolate powder (optional)
Method
- In a food processor or blender add all the ingredients and blend until a smooth paste. Note: For option 2, if the mixture is too wet add in another tablespoon of oats
- Take the mixture and roll them into bite sized balls. When finished, place into the fridge to set and firm. You can choose to omit the chocolate powder coating, and roll the balls in desiccated coconut before placing them in the fridge.
Keep in fridge for up to 1 week in a sealed air-tight container (like they will last that long!).
Variations or experiment with:
Try rolling your healthy bite sized balls in either:
- Sesame seeds,
- Davidson Plum Powder,
- Lemon Myrtle Powder,
- Strawberry Gum Powder
